As most of you will know, 'A Strange Hour' kicks off in Barcelona @ Sala Apolo this coming week on March 12th, with the second event taking place in Madrid @ Sala Macumba on March 13th.

These are the first two Recoil shows ever in 25 years - there are a few <a href="http://selected.recoil.co.uk/march.html"target="new">tickets still left and we hope you will be there to witness this momentous occasion!

Since we know all you Spaniards don't like to venture out until well past midnight, be aware that on-stage times for Recoil for these two events is early, due to a strict curfew - 20.30 for Barcelona & 20.00 for Madrid.

Recoil will be sharing the bill with EBM legends Nitzer Ebb for these particular events. Alan's collaborations with NItzer Ebb stretch back almost 20 years, and along with PK, he is thrilled to join up with his old friends again to finally embark on the 'Selected Events' tour.

After a wait of 16 years, many Mode fans’ dreams came true last night when an on-stage reunion took place at The Royal Albert Hall in London. Alan appeared as a special guest during the DM show to perform the song ‘Somebody’ with Martin Gore.

A well-kept secret was finally revealed to an unsuspecting audience at the moment of the first encore for the band’s special one-off performance at the historical venue.

This unique show was in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust with all proceeds from the show going to the charity.

You can see a clip here : <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2umJr_dGpw"target="new">YouTube

Says Alan: "Dave contacted me a few weeks back and asked if I’d be willing to join them on-stage. He assured me that everyone in the band was into the idea. I was very happy to accept, especially as it was all in a good cause and we were long overdue some kind of reunion of this sort. It was great to see everyone again and catch up a bit, and it was also the first time I have actually ’seen’ Depeche Mode perform!"

19/01/10 – New Nitzer Ebb remix by Alan Wilder

‘Industrial Complex’. The song is entitled ‘I Am Undone’ and Alan’s remix is featured on a bonus disc, to be included with the album due for release by Major Records on January 22nd.

Says Alan: “My version of ‘I Am Undone’ was originally completed at a slower speed, an error made due to running the supplied files at the wrong tempo! (44.1khz instead of 48khz) However, I rather liked the happy accident and delivered my finished mix at the more sleazy tempo. I think it must have been a bit of a shock as Bon and Doug decided to speed it back up to its original speed. Bit of a shame from my point of view but…. oh well.”

For the remix go to: Shunt – the official Recoil Website

To coincide with the release of the new album, and also the Ebb’s support slot on the current Depeche Mode tour, Mute are releasing 2 box sets : the 5 CD CATALOGUE including all the Mute albums – ‘That Total Age’, ‘Belief’, ‘Showtime’, ‘Ebbhead’ (produced by Alan incidentally) and ‘Big Hit’, and the 3 CD COMPILATION – including ‘Body of Work’ and ‘Body Rework’. Both box sets will be available from January 25th.

Mute Store

Mute are also releasing for the first time a Nitzer Ebb collection of b-sides, remixes & rarities, comprising of 60 tracks. The digital album entitled IN ORDER is available now on iTunes.

Alan will be appearing at a few events with Nitzer Ebb either as part of Recoil’s ‘Selected’ Events 2010 Tour, or as part of the Ebb’s own Industrial Complex Tour. Try to catch some of the shows!

Recoil is set to release an album in the Spring of 2010 entitled ‘Selected’. The exact date is still to be confirmed but it will most likely be in April or May. This release is a selection of classic Recoil tracks chosen by Alan Wilder who says: “The collection is made up of my personal favourites, remastered and edited together into what I consider a cohesive and total listening experience.”

So far, the ‘Selected’ formats have been confirmed as a single CD version as well as a double pack CD. The double CD will feature a second disc including many new remixes and alternative versions, again chosen and edited together by Alan and Paul Kendall.

In support of the album, we are also very excited to announce a Recoil Events tour which will take place across Europe and in the US between March & May. Dates will be announced shortly and you can expect some interesting developments as each city is confirmed.
